Thomas Tuchel has emerged as Manchester United's number one managerial target, but a move for the Chelsea boss would require the club to do something no Premier League side has done since January 2015.
The Red Devils believe the former Paris Saint-Germain manager can be convinced to move north, with uncertainty engulfing Stamford Bridge since owner Roman Abramovich was added to the UK government's list of sanctioned individuals. Tuchel had previously reacted angrily to a line of questioning about the Russian, and is understood to be one of the names being considered by United - potentially even before Ralf Rangnick's interim tenure comes to an end.
If a move does take place, though, it would be the first time since 2016 that a Premier League manager has left their club to move directly to another team in the same division. And it would be the first instance of it happening mid-season in more than seven years.
The interest in Tuchel comes amid questions over fellow candidates Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag, after both suffered elimination from the Champions League at the last 16 stage.
