Man Utd: 'Extraordinary' £27m star could 'get what he wants' at Old Trafford

Manchester United could grant Cristiano Ronaldo‘s request to leave Old Trafford this summer, believes transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils’ current stance is that the 37-year-old is not for sale, but Jones is refusing to rule an exit out.

On Monday, The Athletic claimed that Chelsea are considering a move for Ronaldo. This comes after his agent Jorge Mendes and Blues co-owner Todd Boehly held talks about a potential transfer last month.

Since then, a report from The Telegraph has emerged stating that Boehly is set to discuss the matter with Thomas Tuchel before asking the German if the west London club should make a bid for United’s star forward.

Ronaldo’s desire to leave Old Trafford this transfer window is believed to be based on United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

The Manchester club endured a disastrous campaign last season, finishing sixth in the Premier League after accumulating just 58 points.

According to The Athletic, United are insisting that Ronaldo is not for sale, but Jones thinks that stance could easily change.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Of course it [Ronaldo leaving] could happen. I mean, look, United are adamant he won’t go, but I’ve reported on so many transfer situations over the years where the player still gets what he wants, so I just refuse to rule this one out.”

All things considered, they would be crazy to. United fell so far behind the Champions League spots last season; selling their best player to a top-four rival would be an incredibly unproductive move.
