Man Utd: Eric Bailly's celebration during 2017 Europa League final remembered
Eric Bailly will be a Marseille player for the rest of the 2022/23 season.
After years of injury issues and a lack of consistency, Manchester United have finally decided to part ways with the charismatic Ivorian defender.
Marseille will initially take Bailly on loan, with a €10 million buy clause inserted into the deal.
The 28-year-old will link up with former United teammate Alexis Sanchez in France, as well as Nuno Tavares – who’s also on loan at the club from Arsenal.
So it’s the end of Bailly’s time at Old Trafford and while he didn’t really live up to expectation after joining from Villarreal, he certainly provided us with many hilarious moments.
In fact, there’s been so many down the years that a ‘No Context Eric Bailly‘ Twitter account is dedicated to him, which has amassed over 37,000 followers.
Picking the best comedic moment of the lot is a seriously difficult task, although it’s hard to overlook his celebration when Jose Mourinho‘s United won the 2016/17 Europa League.
Bailly was unable to play in the final victory over Ajax due to the fact he was sent off in the semi-final second leg versus Celta Vigo, but both he and the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic travelled to Stockholm in order to cheer on their colleagues.
And from the sidelines, the defender provided us with a truly iconic celebration, one in which he pretended to hit Mourinho with one of Zlatan’s crutches.
To this very day, Bailly’s actions give us the giggles…
