Man Utd: Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire incident summed up second half v Atletico

Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo both had nights to forget as Manchester United were dumped out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Maguire, who has struggled for most of the season, was ironically cheered off by some United fans inside Old Trafford when he was substituted for Juan Mata with five minutes remaining.

The Man Utd captain produced some clumsy moments in both boxes and even left his own teammate, Ronaldo, in pain during one set-piece in the second half.

United were struggling to break down their well-drilled opponents, who’d taken the lead shortly before half-time through Renan Lodi.

But with Maguire and Ronaldo in their ranks, set-pieces offered an opportunity to test Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

One United corner saw Maguire trying to hold off a couple of Atleti players in order to create a yard of space for Ronaldo.

But Cristiano was left holding his teeth in pain when Maguire accidentally but inexplicably headbutted him.
