Man Utd: 'Concerned' £80m star could consider 2023 exit at Old Trafford

Manchester United star Harry Maguire is ‘concerned’ by his lack of game-time this season and may have to seek an Old Trafford exit next year, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Erik ten Hag was appointed as the Red Devils’ boss following the climax of last term and the change in the dugout has not played into Maguire’s hands.

Injuries and a lack of form have restricted Maguire to just 190 minutes of Premier League action since the 2022/23 campaign got underway.

Although the central defender – who was linked with a move to Chelsea in August – is currently on the sidelines with an injury, it seems he is nearing a return to full fitness.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Maguire has stepped up his bid to be fit for the World Cup by running again in training and he could be available within a week.

The report suggests the 48-cap England international could feature against Chelsea at the weekend having not played since injuring his thigh in a Nations League clash with Germany last month.

It is understood that Three Lions chief Gareth Southgate has offered Maguire his full support during his early season struggles.

O'Rourke believes Maguire will find it difficult to return to the Manchester United starting line-up after recovering from his thigh problem.

The journalist feels that will worry the 29-year-old and it could lead to doubts over whether to remain at Old Trafford.
