Man Utd: £40m star 'wishes he never made move' to Old Trafford

Manchester United star Donny van de Beek ‘wishes he’d never even joined’ the Red Devils and there are Premier League clubs queuing up to end his Old Trafford nightmare, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Dutchman made the £40million switch from Eredivisie giants Ajax two years ago, but he has failed to establish himself as a key member of the squad.

Van de Beek only returned to Manchester United in the summer, having spent the second half of last season on loan with Everton.

But it seems his days at Old Trafford are numbered as, according to 90min, the creative midfielder has been granted permission to move onto pastures new when the transfer window reopens in January.

The report suggests van de Beek – a 19-cap Netherlands international – is likely to depart on loan and, while Premier League clubs are showing an interest, a return to his homeland could also be on the cards as Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are keeping tabs on his situation.

Serie A giants Inter Milan could reportedly offer the 25-year-old an alternative escape route from the Red Devils.

It is understood that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag blocked a summer return to Ajax despite being shocked by van de Beek’s lack of confidence.

Jones believes van de Beek has regrets over sealing his move to Manchester United in September 2020.

However, the journalist is confident that he will have no trouble finding a new destination when the transfer window reopens for business.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “There must be part of him that wishes he’d never even joined.

“But there have always been other Premier League clubs interested in him. I’m sure he knows that there are other solutions out there for him if he needs one.”
