Man United star Leah Galton opens up on Ella Toone partnership after Brighton thrashing

Player of the Match Leah Galton is relishing playing with England star Ella Toone as Manchester United dismantled Brighton 4-0 at Leigh Sports Village.

Galton registered two assists and a goal against Hope Powell’s side to maintain United’s perfect start to the WSL season which has seen zero goals conceded in three dominant displays.

Hero of the European Championship final against Germany, Toone was on the scoresheet twice, benefiting from a gorgeous lay off from Galton to grab her second.

And the 23-year-old turned provider for Galton’s first goal of the season before the former Bayern Munich forward delivered a superb first-time half-volley for Adriana Leon to make it four.

“I really enjoy playing with Ella and coming off the Euros she’s been quality so I’m just going to keep linking up with her and getting some goals and assists,” said Galton.

United have looked imperious this season and have shown promising signs that they can challenge for the title after three straight fourth-place finishes.

Marc Skinner’s side face two tricky away challenges to Leicester and Everton, before a crunch start to November sees the visit of champions Chelsea and a trip to Arsenal.

But Galton took heart from a fantastic performance that stretches United’s winning run at home to nine matches.

“It was a good game today to be fair,” said Galton. “I thought we did really well today and I’m proud of all the girls.

“I think we just have to keep it up every game. Obviously right now we’re doing well and we just need to keep on form.”
