Man United star blew his team-mates away in speed test and left them all stunned

Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich star Owen Hargreaves was the fastest player at Old Trafford, much to the surprise of his colleagues.

Born in Canada to English parents, Hargreaves moved to Bavaria at 16 and quickly became a regular in Munich, winning a Champions League, four Bundesliga titles, and numerous domestic cups. Sir Alex Ferguson pursued him in the summer of 2007, and the versatile midfielder transferred for approximately £17million.

He made an immediate impact despite often being regarded as one of Ferguson's worst signings after injuries kept him sidelined for long periods. But there was one attribute that shocked just about all his team-mates after getting to work at Carrington.

"People didn't know I was that quick, so I could always surprise them," said Hargreaves during a recent appearance on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel (via The Mirror). And host Ferdinand responded by affirming team-mates were blown away by his performance.

"He came into the training ground when he signed, and we done testing, and he blew everyone out of the water," said the ex-England defender. "He blew everyone away; we used to do like 10 yards, 20 yards, and he won every race. Wayne Rooney used to go to the guy, 'Who's playing with the machine? Owen can't be the fastest.'"

Hargreaves later joined cross-town rivals Manchester City in a move that was considered a betrayal by many. And he confessed just how confident certain players were when it came to doubting his acceleration off the mark.
