Man United set to offer academy star a new deal amid interest from Juventus

Manchester United are planning to hand academy star Alejandro Garnacho a new five-year deal.

The Argentinian, 17, is one of the most promising talents at Old Trafford and starred in the FA Youth Cup final in May.

His current contract runs until 2025 but Juventus hold an interest in the winger and United are keen to tie him down to a new deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, talks are underway between Garnacho and the Manchester giants who wish to complete negotiations by the end of this year as they consider him a ‘huge talent’.

Garnacho, who models his game on Cristiano Ronaldo, made a breakthrough last term after scoring 14 goals in 34 appearances for United’s under-18 side.

In April, he made his first-team debut as a substitute in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea before scoring two goals against Nottingham Forest in the FA Youth Cup final.

Meanwhile, his rise saw him called up to the Argentinian national team in March for their World Cup qualifiers.

Before the Red Devils signed him from Atletico Madrid in 2020, Garnacho was reportedly wanted by Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Earlier this year, the starlet was heavily praised by United’s former interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

He said: ‘(Garnacho) has been training with us for the last two weeks and I know that he is one of the most promising players.

‘(He is) still only 17, but a player that hopefully if he keeps his feet on the ground. If he keeps trying to get better every day, then he will not only be sitting on the bench but there is every chance he will be playing for this club.’
