Man United's 'open' Jadon Sancho transfer stance as summer move ruled out

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho's future at Old Trafford reportedly remains open as we enter the last fortnight of the summer transfer window.

Before the beginning of pre-season it seemed almost set in stone that Sancho would be leaving the Reds. Both the Englishman and Erik ten Hag had a difficult relationship last season after the winger was dropped for the Arsenal defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

Sancho declared himself a 'scapegoat' and was subsequently exiled with immediate effect and sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund in January. Since his return to the UK, the 24-year-old has buried the hatchet with Ten Hag which seems to have opened the door to him staying at the club.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, all options remain open for Sancho's future at the club. While PSG did enquire about the winger in July, no formal bid was placed.

Speculation about Sancho's future intensified last night when he was not named in the starting XI or among the substitutes for the clash with Fulham. Elsewhere, journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed United's stance on signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

De Jong has been constantly linked with the Reds since Ten Hag joined United in 2022. Speculation had been growing as to whether the Dutchman would go after his fellow countryman again this summer as he searched for a new central midfielder.
