Ralf Rangnick, Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire have had conversations over the captaincy at Manchester United.

That's according to the Mirror, who say that the possibility of handing Ronaldo the captain's armband until the end of the season has been discussed within the club, with current skipper Maguire struggling with his form at the moment.

However, the report goes on to say that Maguire is not happy with that suggestion, as he fears losing the captaincy on a permanent basis.

It says that the England centre-back feels "marginalised in terms of authority" inside the Man United dressing room, with superstar Ronaldo around.

While not being exactly the same situation, the dressing room fallout is something that happened at Arsenal earlier in the season.

Mikel Arteta chose to strip the captain's armband from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Gabonese attacker breached the club's rules again. Aubameyang never played for the Gunners again and subsequently moved to Barcelona on a free transfer earlier this month.
