Man United: Rangnick 'doesn't suit' £76.5m star with 'bags of ability'

Marcus Rashford doesn’t suit the way that Manchester United want to play, according to former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The England forward has lost his place under Ralf Rangnick and has found himself on the bench more often than not since the German arrived at Old Trafford.

Having missed the opening few months of the campaign with a shoulder problem, the £76.5m-rated attacker came back with a bang after scoring against both Leicester and Tottenham back in October.

However, Rashford has only found the net twice in 15 Premier League games since then and has slipped down the pecking order as a result.

Despite both Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo being unavailable for the Manchester derby on Sunday, Rangnick opted to start Bruno Fernandes in a false nine role instead of handing Rashford a rare start.

It was the fourth game on the bounce that Rashford was on the bench, playing just 53 minutes in total across those fixtures.

Therefore, according to Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old is considering his future at Old Trafford following his lack of game-time under Rangnick.

Rashford has been an excellent servant for his boyhood club over the years, scoring 93 goals in just under 300 appearances, but Palmer doesn’t think that he fits into Rangnick’s plans.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “The system just doesn’t suit the way that he plays and the way they’re playing doesn’t suit the way that he plays.

“Marcus has got bags and bags of ability and I think that the Man United set up, it doesn’t suit him to play that way.”
