Man United hero Gary Neville 'joins' band for live shows in shock career move

Manchester United hero Gary Neville has lined up another new gig - literally - to add to his growing CV.

The former United captain and England defender has turned his hand to plenty of ventures since calling time on a trophy-laden playing career in 2011. Neville, 49, won the Premier League a staggering 12 times.

He also won four FA Cup, three League Cup and two Champions League medals. Since hanging up his boots, Bury-born Neville has been a regular on our TV screens with broadcasters such as Sky Sports and ITV.

Neville is widely regarded as one of the best in the punditry business. He also created The Overlap on YouTube to host popular shows such as Stick To Football and The Fan Debate.

His short-lived spell as a manager - in Spain with Valencia - was not so successful. But the 49-year-old counts that as a rare loss as he has amassed as huge net worth through his footballing, TV and business interests.

Neville has branched out from the beautiful game, particularly since his retirement, and it looks as though he's set to add another string to his bow. Rotherham band The Reytons have named Neville as their temporary new bassist following an apparent injury to regular player Lee Holland.

The shock 'announcement' and joke sketch came as part of confirmation for their upcoming tour. The Reytons are due on stage for several shows across the UK and Ireland between February and July next year.
