Man United can make move for £34m Bryan Mbeumo alternative with 37 goal involvements last season

Manchester United's pursuit of signing Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is still yet to reach a resolution.

United are keen to sign the Cameroon international and the 25-year-old wants to move to Old Trafford. But their improved bid in excess of £60million for Mbeumo was rejected and the two clubs remain in talks over the move.

Mbeumo scored 20 Premier League goals last season, a feat no United player has achieved since 2013, and would add proven Premier League quality to the United squad.

Ruben Amorim would use Mbeumo in one of the two attacking midfield roles in his 3-4-2-1 formation and he would likely play alongside new signing Matheus Cunha, who scored 17 goals for Wolves last season.

Manchester United have launched their new home kit for the 2025/26 season with an Adidas shirt paying tribute to Old Trafford.

Fans can order their Men's, Women's and Kid's shirt today.

£85

Ideally, the pair would supplement a new forward as United look to improve their goalscoring woes from last season.

However, having been guilty of overpaying for players in the past, United will be keen not to do so again when it comes to Mbeumo.

If United have a maximum price in mind to sign the Bees star they must not go above it. That is when potential alternatives come into play.

Using DataMB's player similarity generator tool to bring up players with similar characteristics to Mbeumo, Feyenoord's Igor Paixao emerges as one of the five most similar players to the Brentford star.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has just come off the back of an outstanding season where he scored 18 goals and registered 19 assists in all competitions, with seven of those goal involvements coming in the Champions League.

Paixao has spent three seasons in the Netherlands
