Man killed after minibus rolls on top of him

A minibus driver died after his vehicle rolled over him moments after he exited it. The 66-year-old man who drove a black Mercedes minibus sadly lost his life in the Kenfig Hill area in South Wales on Monday afternoon (January 22).

Police were called to Trederwen at around 2:30pm to reports of a "serious" crash. Motorists were told to avoid the area and the road was closed in both directions from the Talbot roundabout.

As reported on WalesOnline, a South Wales Police spokesman on Monday night confirmed that a man had tragically died in the incident which had involved the minibus he had moments before been at the wheel of. They said: "At approximately 2.10pm on Monday, January 22, a fatal road traffic accident occurred at Penrhyn, Kenfig Hill, Bridgend.

"A 66-year-old local male had just exited his black Mercedes minibus when the vehicle rolled back causing fatal injuries to the male. Ambulance and fire service attended but unfortunately the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His family are being supported by trained family liaison officers."

South Wales Police roads policing department are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them via 101 quoting reference 2400024861.
