Man found injured near church now 'stable' in hospital with arrest made

Police made an arrest after a man was found with injuries near a church. The victim, who is aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital from the Healey area of Rochdale on Sunday.

He was said by police on Monday to be in a 'stable' condition. It's understood the man suffered facial injuries. He hasn't been named. Police said officers received a report that he was injured on Gandy Lane, near Christ Church in Healey.

A 39-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of assault, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

He was subsequently released from custody 'under investigation', confirmed a force spokesman. The force has now issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

In a statement, GMP said: "At around 11.35am on Sunday 26 June 2022, we received a report of an injured male on Gandy Lane, Rochdale. A man in his 40s was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
