Man City Women 2-3 Chelsea highlights and ratings from Women's FA Cup final as Blues fall short after extra time

Manchester City couldn't end their turbulent season on a high today as they were narrowly beaten by Chelsea in the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley.

City had a tricky season in the Women's Super League after a number of injuries at the start of the campaign ended a title challenge before it began, but a run of 21 wins in the last 23 games in all competitions has seen them successfully qualify for Champions League football next season, win the Continental Cup, and reach today's FA Cup final.

Boss Gareth Taylor said City have had a successful season anyway, regardless of what happens in the cup final, but victory would be a good return for a brilliant run of form since November.

City fell behind to an unfortunate goal, but Lauren Hemp's fine equaliser levelled the scores at half-time. When Erin Cuthbert fired in a stunner, it looked like Chelsea would win, until substitute Hayley Raso sent the game to extra time. But Sam Kerr's winner in the first period of extra time handed the trophy to Chelsea.

Follow below for live match updates and full-time player ratings from Wembley.

Roebuck - Shaky first half, more composed and reliable after the break. Helpless for second and third goals. 6

Stokes - Calm under pressure, barely a foot wrong. 6

Greenwood - Led by example on and off the ball. 6

Kennedy - Will have to take the blame for Kerr's second. 5

Bronze - Took a booking for the team, played well. 7

Walsh - Some useful driving runs, always kept things ticking. 6

Weir - Two good early chances. Quieter after half time. 6

Stanway - Marked closely, but still worked hard to get the ball forward. 6

Hemp - Brilliant equalising goal, always a threat, Chelsea couldn't cope. 7

Kelly - Worked hard all game but didn't really fall her way.
