Man City vs Southampton live score and goals updates as hosts seek second after Haaland opener

Manchester City will again be without six players vs Southampton as their injury crisis continues to impact Pep Guardiola's selection options.

City have been without Rodri and Oscar Bobb for some time, while Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker are still not ready to return as they recover from niggling injuries of their own. Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku added to the problems this week and Guardiola will have just 15 outfield players to pick from against Southampton.

Saints are joint-bottom of the Premier League with just one point from eight games, and will do well to get a result at the Etihad. City beat Sparta Prague in midweek with impressive performances from Phil Foden and Matheus Nunes in particular, while Erling Haaland got a brace to get back to his scoring form.

The clash is not available to watch live in the UK, so follow below for pre-match build-up and live match updates from City vs Southampton as it happens this afternoon.

As expected.

Savinho's cross on the break is pushed just out of Haaland's reach by Ramsdale.

Gundogan replaces Nunes - who walks past Guardiola as he talks to a coach. Guardiola then calls him back for a well-deserved pat on the back.

Southampton make a double change of their own, including big striker Paul Onuachu who will give the Blues defence something to think about. Another Saints 'injury' will add more stoppage time.

We'll have a fair bit of injury time here as play is stopped twice for Southampton players receiving treatment. It's not timewasting as they're still behind, but it's slowing City's flow in search of a second so is arguably benefitting them over the Blues.

The City subs are still warming up and only now does Ilkay Gundogan get the call.

Ryan Manning off, James Bree on
