Man City vs Man United: Caroline Weir recreates Puskás goal with identical chip finish
Man City’s Caroline Weir scored a stunning chip against Man United –– reminiscent of the one she scored against the Red Devils last year.
Weir has developed a reputation for scoring wonder goals against United. In 2019, she hammered home the inaugural Manchester derby goal from 25 yards out, while last season she executed a sumptuous chip to perfection.
Both goals were subsequently nominated for the FIFA Puskás Award, though neither ended up winning.
Today, Weir was the hero again, as she struck with 10 minutes to go to give Gareth Taylor’s side all three points and help City move within two points of their Manchester rivals.
While people have become accustomed to seeing Weir score against the Red Devils, it was the manner of her goal which was truly astonishing.
Weir once again attempted a chip, this time from slightly further out, and successfully lobbed the keeper once more.
It was almost a carbon copy of her goal against United last year and arguably even better.
She’s actually done it again!
