Man City vs Liverpool: Jermaine Jenas names controversial combined XI
What Phil Foden called “the biggest game” is finally upon us. It’s Manchester City vs Liverpool the defining clash of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.
Liverpool will travel to the Etihad Stadium in Manchester for what is surely the biggest Premier League game we’ve seen in recent years, one game to decide the destination of the title.
That’s how it feels at least, and that’s what it’s being built up to be. Such is the standard that these two titans set, neither team is expected to drop another point between now and the end of the campaign.
Jamie Carragher recently said: “Liverpool versus Manchester City has become the greatest, most intense and highest quality rivalry in English football history.
“This is the first time the two best teams in England are the two best teams in the world, led by the two greatest coaches of their generation.”
And he couldn’t have put it any better, this is no longer Ferguson vs Wenger, it’s the next level up.
Sorry to all those golden era Premier League romanticists out there – but it’s true.
Naturally, when such an enormous spectacle rolls around the build-up surrounding the game is detailed and intense. Everyone loves to test their footballing knowledge with heated debates about who would get into what team and so forth, and the latest high-profile pundit to release his Man City vs Liverpool combined XI is Jermaine Jenas.
