Man City star Kyle Walker shows true colours with response to Lee Carsley England snub

England's Kyle Walker believes that Three Lions boss Lee Carsley was justified in not selecting him for the squad for the forthcoming international fixtures.

Carsley, taking over as interim manager for England's initial two UEFA Nations League matches after stepping in for Gareth Southgate, has opted for some surprise selections, including maiden call-ups for players like Noni Madueke and Angel Gomes. However, 34 year-old Walker will be watching from the sidelines.

The Manchester City defender, who celebrated his birthday in May, earned his 90th cap in the Euro 2024 final against Spain. Notably, Walker did not miss a single minute during the competition as England, runners-up at Euro 2020, once again reached the tournament's climactic match.

Since returning from national team duty, Walker has been grappling with injuries, managing only a couple of minutes on the pitch across the first three matches of the current season. Meanwhile, Rico Lewis, his colleague from City, seems to have claimed Walker's position in Carsley's selection, but Walker harbours no resentment.

"Obviously with a new manager and everything like that, you are always expecting a few changes," Walker explained on his BBC podcast 'You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker'. "I'm obviously disappointed because to represent your country is always the highest thing, and especially for England when we are doing so well.", reports the Mirror.

"But I haven't played many minutes this season, so you have to take it on the chin. To be fair [Lee Carsley] was really nice and gave me a ring a couple of hours before the squad was announced, and we just had a conversation."
