Man City showed what Pep Guardiola saw in Saudi Arabia vs Everton

Manchester City showed the resilience of champions y coming from behind against Everton as they returned to Premier League action.

The Blues were up against a fervent Goodison Park ground in inclement conditions, and were made to battle hard to get the win that they desperately needed to keep the pressure on the leader leaders.

City were behind at half time with Jack Harrison's goal coming as a result of intense Everton pressure forcing a mistake from Rodri in his own penalty area. But City came out of the traps quickly in the second half, dominating from the whistle and eventually running out 3-1 winners after goals from Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva.

Here are the main talking points from City's comeback win ...

On Friday in Saudi Arabia, Pep Guardiola said the week together had united his Manchester City squad. "We create an incredible team building and team spirit", he said of the time spent at the Crowne Plaza in Jeddah.

It's unusual to get a week together for a squad in the middle of the season and it felt like it was needed for City, who had seen their title defence begin to hit the skids. The football in the Middle East was serene and there was a sense that maybe that week would bring this squad closer, recreating that hunger for an unprecedented fourth Premier League title in a row and ironing out a few of the issues that have plagued them on the pitch of late.

But those bonds were always going to be put to the test at Goodison Park. In their absence, City had seen Liverpool go eight points clear and they had dropped outside of the top four. It felt like now was the time to put their foot down and find that winning run that has so often proved decisive in recent years.
