Man City's next academy gem takes his Champions League chance to prove Pep Guardiola right

Manchester City's 0-0 draw with Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday was not a particularly memorable match, although it was for one young man wearing sky blue.

CJ Egan-Riley was the youngster Pep Guardiola turned to in a time of injury crisis, with the right-back deputising for the suspended Kyle Walker and the sidelined Joao Cancelo.

The 19-year-old played the full 90 of City's last-16 second-leg tie, with the Blues progressing to the quarter-finals 5-0 on aggregate.
