Man City's best and worst case scenario amid Premier League's FFP charges

Manchester City continue to await an outcome as the Premier League investigates the 115 alleged Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches the club made between 2009/10 and 2017/18.

Last week Everton were punished by the Premier League having overspent by £24m over five years. The Toffees were handed a 10 point deduction which plunged them into the relegation zone.

Sean Dyche's side are appealing the judgement but that strict punishment handed to Everton raises questions as to what future awaits the Blues. MEN Sport has taken a look at the best and worst case scenarios facing City come the end of this process.

Clearly the charges being dropped altogether and no further action would be the dream. While the sheer amount of charges against City potentially makes that outcome unlikely, it is not beyond the realms of possibility. If City are found guilty, the best they can hope for is a fine and perhaps a minor points deduction which they would only feel the effects of for one campaign.

A hefty points deduction or being automatically relegated and having to seek membership to the EFL would be the most dramatic scenario. The EFL do not have to allow City into their pyramid so relegation to the fifth tier is a possibility, if unlikely. City could also be stripped of their Premier League titles but that also seems a remote possibility.
