Man City receive brutal 115 charges verdict after Pep Guardiola U-turn with 'massive' punishment

Andy Gray believes that Manchester City are due a 'massive' points deduction and sees no other outcome but a guilty verdict from the Premier League's upcoming trial. The reigning champions and winners of five of the last six top-flight titles are due to head to the court rooms for an eagerly anticipated legal battle later this year.

City have now entered their second full season since being charged by the Premier League of over 100 counts of breaching financial rules across a 10-year period that saw them start to dominate English football. Despite other, and extremely different, monetary-related cases being opened and closed during 2023/24 alone, City are still yet to see their own monstrous situation be fully addressed.

However, ahead of the home clash against Ipswich on Saturday, Pep Guardiola opened up on his thoughts regarding the matter. "I'm happy that it starts soon and hopefully it will finish soon, for the benefit of all of us, especially the club but also other Premier League clubs and all the people who don’t wait for the sentence," he said.

"I wish, from deep in my heart, go to the trial, the independent panel - and I say again, independent panel - and as soon as possible release what happened and we will accept like always we have done." Guardiola has regularly been questioned about the charges and it's possible impact, but continues to play down it's effect on his players.

"No, we have been talking about that for three or four years," he added. We know it is going to happen, we accept it and focus on our matches.”
