Man City planning move for Benfica youngster and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on Leeds United youngster Archie Gray, who was named on the substitutes bench in the Whites' opening Premier League fixture against Wolves.

According to the Athletic, City are monitoring the 16-year-old who came through the ranks at Leeds - despite him having not yet played for the senior squad. He would have been involved in the 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Yorkshire rivals Barnsley in midweek had it not been for a virus picked up earlier in the week, which saw manager Jesse Marsch not risk him.

The England U-17 international, who was part of Leeds' pre-season tour earlier this summer, has been described by Marsch as an ‘incredible’ talent.

Gray will turn 17 in March and Leeds are hopeful of getting him to sign professional terms on his birthday in an attempt to prevent other clubs from poaching him for a bargain price.

Elsewhere, a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes claims City are planning a 2023 move for Benfica's Enzo Fernandez. A number of clubs are said to be interested in the midfielder, with Real Madrid also reportedly keen on the youngster.

The 21-year-old has made six appearances so far this season, registering three goals - including two in the Champions League qualifying stages.

It is thought that Spanish giants Madrid considered a move for Fernandez this summer, but opted against an approach after signing Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Meanwhile, a previous report by Sports Illustrated claimed that City were showing interest in the Argentine this summer, but, like Madrid, decided against a move this year.
