Man City partnership that gave Manchester United nightmares is now unstoppable

When Kevin De Bruyne picks up the ball and Erling Haaland starts making a run, fluttering his eyes towards the Manchester City playmaker, you know exactly what's coming. Stopping it is another matter.

De Bruyne now has eight assists this season and six of them have been to set up goals for Haaland, whose goalscoring records are beginning to look like they belong in another galaxy.

If Haaland is unstoppable then it is partly because De Bruyne is keeping the ammunition supplied. The best playmaker the Premier League has seen and the best striker the Premier League has seen are proving to be a deadly combination.

Haaland's first derby goal was a header from a corner, as simple as it gets, but De Bruyne knew he could throw up a high cross for the giant Norwegian to attack because David de Gea does not leave his line. It was meat and drink for the forward.

The second goal was pure instinct. Haaland knew to peel off his centre back at the back post and De Bruyne knew he just had to deliver in that corridor of uncertainty. He always does.

The cross looked too heavy for every inch of its journey, until that telescopic left leg prodded it into the back of the net, taking him to 16 goals for the season in 11 games. That De Bruyne-Haaland partnership will be giving the rest of the Premier League some sleepless nights.
