Man City owner Sheikh Mansour to attend Champions League final

Sheikh Mansour will be in attendance as Manchester City try to win their first Champions League final.

The City owner has only ever been to one match during his time running the Blues - a 2010 Premier League game against Liverpool - but is flying into Istanbul to watch as Pep Guardiola and his side aim to complete the Treble. After a number of painful near misses in the competition, the Blues are 90 minutes away from winning the only major trophy missing from their cabinet and Sheikh Mansour will be there to see if they can do it.

Despite the owner rarely being seen at matches, he is still treated warmly by City fans. There is a song for him that has been heard more frequently since the club were hit with Premier League charges this season, while a banner thanking him still hangs at the Etihad.

Speaking before the semi-final against Real Madrid, Kyle Walker said that the squad owed it to the owners to win the Champions League given the huge investment that has been poured into the club every year to keep them challenging for honours every season.

“The club is missing that one trophy,” he said. “The owners, with the amount of money they have pumped into this club and the investment they have done, we owe that to them.”

City are aiming to complete a Treble that only United have managed before in English football, adding the Champions League to the Premier League and FA Cup in a single season.
