Man City hold key fixture advantage over Liverpool FC ahead of crunch April Premier League clash

Last weekend could turn out to be a hugely important one in this season’s title race.

Harry Kane’s last-gasp winner at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday condemned Manchester City to just their second home league defeat of the season. Earlier in the day, Liverpool came from behind to beat Norwich 3-1 at Anfield.

The results mean that should Liverpool beat Leeds United this week at Anfield, they’ll be just three points behind the champions as we head towards the business end of the campaign.

This season's title race has all the hallmarks of yet another titanic battle between two of England's grandest clubs.

City and Liverpool still have domestic and European trophies in their sights, but from a Premier League perspective, many are looking ahead to the clash between the two at the Etihad in April as potentially the biggest game of the season.

That fixture could well be a title decider, though key for both teams will be keeping the pressure on one another between now and then.

For City, the aim will be to maintain the gap they have over Liverpool between now and April’s meeting, handing them the opportunity to extend their lead over Jurgen Klopp’s side with a win.
