Man City emerge as main contenders to sign ‘big name’ alongside Haaland, he really wants to join
As translated and shared by Sport Witness, Portuguese newspaper Record have now shared an interesting transfer update involving Manchester City and star Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
Rumours of Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland’s incoming move to Man City have accelerated over the last week.
The Daily Mail‘s reliable reporters Craig Hope and Jack Gaughan first broke the news that the Sky Blues allegedly have a deal in place for Europe’s most in-demand talisman, with German sources believing that he will choose a move to Eastlands.
There have been a flurry of reports since then, with respected Real Madrid source Jorge Picon of Goal even claiming that the Galacticos could be about to concede defeat, believing that City are in pole position to sign Haaland (Twitter).
Personal terms have apparently been discussed with club chiefs ready to sign off on his acquisition, but according to Record, City are among the main contenders for another sensation alongside the 21-year-old.
It is believed that Pep Guardiola’s side are among the main contenders for Benfica star Nunez alongside Atletico Madrid.
The Lisbon giants have set an €80m (£67m) asking price for their prolific forward, and despite being a man in demand, the 22-year-old has a move to Eastlands firmly in his eyeline.
Nunez reportedly ‘dreams’ of a move to Manchester, seeing City as a top European club alongside Atletico, even going as far as to switch representatives in his bid to secure a big move away.
Amid all the non-stop noise surrounding Haaland, it is interesting to see City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain and the club still being named in other transfer pursuits.
