Man City consider window for Bernardo Silva exit ‘over’ and more transfer rumours

Manchester City have reportedly ruled that the time frame for a Bernardo Silva exit has now passed despite ongoing interest from Barcelona.

The Portugal international has been linked with a switch to the Nou Camp all summer. Pep Guardiola has made it clear he does not want Silva to leave the club, saying: “110 per cent I want him to stay.”

Silva opened his account for the season during his first league start of the term in Sunday’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle. He has reportedly been open to a move to Barcelona although that possibility this summer now looks unlikely.

Journalist Jose Alvarez (via Sport Witness) claims City consider any possibility of a Silva departure now mute given there is just 10 days until the window closes.

After losing out on target Matheus Nunes to Wolves, the champions do not want to be scrambling for a replacement with what little time remains, nor end the summer short of midfielders.

Meanwhile, Fichajes journalist Ekrem Konur says a number of Championship clubs are keeping tabs on Cole Palmer. The 20-year-old scored three goals for the senior last season prior to a three-month lay-off due to injury.

He has been tipped to feature in Guardiola’s plans again this season, although may be tempted by regular game time elsewhere. Palmer came on as a late substitute in City’s opening 2-0 Premier League win over West Ham earlier this month.

It takes the attacker’s first team tally to 14 outings, in which he has netted three times and provided one assist.
