Man City cleared to wear special World Champions shirt for rest of Premier League season
Manchester City's triumph at the Club World Cup will be marked at every Premier League game for the rest of the season.
Pep Guardiola's side beat Fluminense 4-0 to add a fifth trophy in 2023 to their collection and mark an incredible year for the football club. City become the first English side to hold the Club World Cup alongside the Super Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League after sweeping all before them.
The winners of the landmark FIFA tournament bringing together teams from every continent are allowed to wear a gold badge on their shirt in certain competitions to mark them out as the best team in the world. City were already free to wear the new shirt in the FA Cup and Champions League but have now been given permission to wear it in Premier League matches as well.

As well as fans being able to buy the updated version of the shirt from this weekend, Guardiola's players will take to the field wearing it when they run out at Goodison Park on December 27. They will then be allowed to wear it for the remainder of the season.
Liverpool were only allowed to wear the badge for one Premier League match after they won the Club World Cup in 2019 and United were refused permission in 2008, but the most recent English winners Chelsea were allowed to don the badge for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.
