Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan makes brilliant Champions League final gesture to Manchester charity

Ilkay Gundogan is helping to get one party started on Saturday night by supplying food and drinks for a Manchester charity.

The Manchester City captain has regularly contributed to good causes during his time at the Etihad, and is an ambassador for Community Integrated Care after spending two of his birthdays helping out there. The German international will be providing Turkish food and drink for 115 people in the social care project to help them celebrate the Champions League final, as well as a letter thanking them for inspiring him.

"I wanted to write you this letter to let you know that you are a true inspiration for me," part of the letter reads. "Your strength, resilience and zest for life are truly awe-inspiring. The challenges you face on a daily basis require immense courage, and your ability to overcome them is remarkable.

"I understand that life can be filled with obstacles and uncertainties, but please know that you are not alone. The bonds you have formed at Community Integrated Care, the laughter you share, and the support you provide to one another are testaments to the strength and beauty of our community and the human spirit."

Gundogan is also supplying food and drink at the youth club where he first kicked a ball. His career has been closely followed at Heßler 06 Gelsenkirchen and they will be gathering to watch the match and cheer the midfielder on.

City will hope that it is not the last time Gundogan leads them out. The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the month and has offers to leave, although the Blues have stepped up their efforts to keep him.
