Man City announce plans for 2022 USA pre-season tour

Manchester City will travel to the United States for two pre-season friendlies ahead of the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season, the club has announced.

Following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, City have not travelled abroad for pre-season since 2019. That year, the Blues travelled to China, Hong Kong and Japan and featured in the Premier League Asia Trophy in China.

Confirming that they will travel to the United States this summer, City will face Mexican outfit Club America at NRG Stadium in Houston on Wednesday, July 20. The contest will kick-off at 7:30pm local time - the early hours of the morning in the UK.

Although City have announced that they will fulfil two fixtures during their time in the States, they are yet to confirm who they will face after locking horns with Club America., with the second fixture being announced next week.

Tickets for the clash with Club America will go on sale to the general public on April 28. Season ticket holders, Cityzens Members and Official Supporters Clubs members will be emailed their own exclusive pre-sale links to buy tickets before they go on public sale.

On travelling to the United States for pre-season, City's Chief Football Operations Officer, Omar Berrada, said: "We are excited to return to the United States for this summer's pre-season trip, our first since before COVID. Our players and coaches cannot wait to play once again in-person in front of our American fans, who have shown us such great support and passion.
