Man arrested after girl, 6, attacked by dogs on street

A man has been arrested after a six-year-old girl was attacked by dogs in Trafford at the weekend.

Officers were called to Ackers Lane in Carrington shortly before 2.40pm on Sunday afternoon (March 26) following reports a child suffered injuries caused by dogs.

Witnesses reported pedestrians bravely stepping in to try and help the little girl before she was taken to safety. The young girl was rushed to hospital following the incident, where she remains and is receiving treatment.

Police say a 36-year-old man from the Carrington area has now been arrested on suspicion of offences under Section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and perverting the course of justice. Three people previously arrested on suspicion of owning a dangerous dog have since been released on bail. A total of 17 dogs have been seized as part of this investigation, police say.

Anyone with any information of footage – including doorbell or dashcam – is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 1612-26/03/2023. Reports can also be made via the LiveChat function on GMP’s website or by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
