'Major questions' over Leeds ace who Marsch had 'private talks' with - journalist

Beren Cross has admitted on Leeds United Live that there are still question marks over Rodrigo.

Leeds United splashed out a club-record transfer fee on Rodrigo in the summer of 2020 but he has never truly lived up to his £27 million price tag with just 13 goals in 58 appearances for the Whites and has played in several different positions, still yet to seemingly find his best one.

Rodrigo has been played as a main striker, second striker, midfielder and winger during his time at Elland Road and now even under new boss Jesse Marsch, he can’t nail down a regular position in the team, which will be concerning given how much he cost the club.

Cross believes that there are still a lot of question marks over Rodrigo and his impact at Leeds.

(26:00) “He goes from being the guy that was at his lowest ebb in the Villa game, has those private talks with Jesse Marsch about the leadership council and what they want to get out of him, he’s a record signing, how can we make this work?

He had that little spurt of goals and performances and uptick and then against Palace and City he was completely anonymous, which kind of sums up his entire tenure at least so far really.

It hasn’t really got going for him I think injuries and COVID have played their part, especially in his first season, but ultimately, yes, there are still major questions about his impact on this team and his input and what he’s good at.”

Rodrigo joined the Whites with a very impressive record out in Spain with Valencia registering 100 goal contributions across 220 appearances, however, that couldn’t be further away from what he’s managed to achieve at Elland Road.
