Maidstone United manager George Elokobi says 4-0 National League South win over Worthing was a complete performance

George Elokobi described Maidstone’s victory over Worthing as a complete performance.

United won 4-0 at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday in their best all-round display of the season.

They were clinical at one end and blunted their highly-rated opponents as an attacking force at the other.

Levi Amantchi’s double and goals from Sol Wanjau-Smith and Razzaq Coleman De-Graft earned back-to-back league wins for the first time this season and a third straight victory in all competitions.

They’ve climbed to seventh in National League South, three points behind leaders Bath, with Worthing dropping from second to fifth.

“Every performance when you win seems to be a good performance but that was a complete performance,” said Stones manager Elokobi.

“The goalscorers took their chances so well and we had a clean sheet to cap it off.

“It was a good test to measure ourselves where we are in terms of can we beat a team that’s near the top of the table, and we’ve done that, which is fantastic.

“When you win 4-0 at home it’s an excellent result and the players need to take a lot of confidence and credit from it.”

Elokobi and his management team are big on detail when preparing their side for games.

The Stones had a plan to stop a Worthing side who like to get on the ball and build from the back.

“It’s about showing the opposition a lot of respect,” said Elokobi.

“We do our homework on them to know their strengths, their limitations, how they take their set-plays, their variations at set-plays, but it’s also about believing in us and believing in our tactical details that we send the players out there to execute.
