Maidstone United 3 Bath City 0 match report: Second-half goals from Reiss Greenidge, Aaron Blair and Charlie Seaman earn National League South victory
Maidstone came good in the second half to beat Bath and claim a first win in four National League South games.
After a forgettable first half, two goals in four minutes from Reiss Greenidge and Aaron Blair - his first in 10 matches - put United in charge.
And Charlie Seaman completed victory with a lovely clincher in added time.
Neither side offered much in a poor first half at the Gallagher Stadium.
It was a tough watch, with a slow tempo, and chances at a premium.
Maidstone, switching to a back three, were almost caught out after 15 minutes when Brad Ash intercepted George Fowler’s header back to goalkeeper Alexis Andre Jr.
But, with the angle against him, the on-loan Torquay man could only hit the side-netting.
A loose pass out of defence by Tayt Trusty minutes later was picked up by Luke Russe and he tested with Andre Jr with a strike from the edge of the box.
The Stones had plenty of possession but were going nowhere with it, while a couple of needless offsides frustrated the crowd.
Maidstone finally had an opening a minute before the break - and it was a big one, too, as Blair got away down the right and squared for Aranjit Krasniqi, who missed an open goal from seven yards out.
United introduced new loan signing from Millwall, Tom Leahy, at the break and it was his run and shot, after collecting Blair’s through ball, that won the corner leading to the opening goal.
Ben Brookes took it and Greenidge nodded home unopposed from inside the six-yard box in the 55th minute.
The goal was just what Maidstone needed and they had another one to celebrate four minutes later.
This time a mistake by Jack Batten saw the ball fall to Blair and he turned smartly before rifling into the roof of the net for his first goal since New
