M60, M61 and M62 LIVE as crashes and oil spillage cause travel chaos - latest updates

There is traffic chaos across Greater Manchester this evening (Monday, January 13) due to a crash and an oil spillage on two major motorways.

Two lanes are currently closed on the M62, causing rush-hour congestion. This is due to a crash on the westbound carriageway from J12 for Eccles and J11 for Birchwood.

There are also major delays due to two lane closures on the M61 following an incident yesterday evening. Drivers are being warned to expect disruption after a crash caused a 'substantial' spillage on the road.

There are also delays on the A57 Mancunian Way and 'long delays' on the M60 clockwise from J8 for Carrington and J12 for the M62 due to rush hour congestion.

This is a live blog. Traffic updates to follow below.

National Highways North West shared this update earlier today.

Drivers were warned to expect disruption on the M61 this evening after a 'substantial' spillage on the road.

A National Highways North West spokesperson wrote on X: "2 lanes (of 3) are closed on the #M61 southbound between J4 #Westhoughton & J3 #Kearsley following a substantial hydraulic fluid spillage from a
