M6 LIVE as all traffic stopped as emergency crews called to scene - updates
All traffic has been stopped on the M6 this evening amid a response to an ongoing police incident.
Emergency services, as well as Highways Officers, are in attendance on the northbound carriagway between junction 20 for the M56 and junction 21 for the A57 Manchester Road.
Live traffic service Inrix has reported that this is due to a collision, with police in attendance blocking off multiple lanes. All traffic is being temporarily held.
The update read: "All traffic being temporarily held and severe delays due to accident on M6 Thelwall Viaduct Northbound between J20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange) and J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston)."

All vehicles have now been moved out of the carriageway - but delays remain for those travelling on the M6 this evening.
Two lanes remain closed on the M6 northbound this evening, between junctions 20 and 21, due to the earlier collision.
National Highways said there are delays of at least 60 minutes this evening and six miles of congestion
An update from Inrix said all lanes were temporarily shut off this evening amid the response to a collision.
It read: "All traffic being temporarily held and severe delays due to accident on M6 Thelwall Viaduct Northbound between J20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange) and J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston)."
