M4 Prince of Wales Bridge closed due to crash - latest updates
The M4 Prince of Wales Bridge has been closed eastbound following a road traffic collision late on Wednesday night. The route has been closed since around 11.30pm.
The road has been closed eastbound on a stretch of the M4 between junction 23 for the M48 and junction22 for the M49. Images from the scene showed long tailbacks.
There was no information immediately available on the circumstances surrounding the collision, including whether there are any resulting injuries. There was also no early indication as to when the route might reopen, although emergency services will be hoping to clear the scene as soon as possible.
A passerby said: "The M4 Prince of Wales bridge is closed eastbound with a heavy emergency services presence because of a crash. Looks like it has recently happened and they are dealing with the aftermath."
In an update at 11.50pm, traffic information service Inrix said: "M4 Prince of Wales Bridge Eastbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident from J23 M48 to J22 M49. The road has been closed since around 23:30. Diversion - M48 Severn Bridge."
