M4 crash blocks lane and causes rush hour delays

One lane was blocked and there was queuing traffic due to accident on the M4 westbound this morning.

According to traffic monitoring service, Inrix, a lorry and a car were involved in a crash on the M4 westbound from J23A A4810 (Magor Services) to J24 A449 (Coldra).

Lane one of three was previously blocked, but around 8.25am, Traffic Wales and Inrix confirmed that all lanes had been reopened. Gwent Police confirmed that they were not called to the incident, but traffic officers had attended the scene.

At around 8.30am, AA reported there were "severe" delays of 27 minutes and delays increasing on M4 westbound between J23A A4810 (Magor Services) and J24 A449 (Coldra), with average speed of five mph. But at 8.54am, Inrix confirmed that traffic was easing in the area.
