M&S shopper tries 2p coin trick that 'can keep flowers fresh for up to two weeks'

A woman was left amazed after trying a simple 2p coin hack to stop her M&S flowers from wilting.

She was impressed with the results after placing the two pence coin at the bottom of the vase she kept her Marks and Spencer Valentine's Day flowers inside.

According to the experts, to achieve the results, all you have to do is pop a 2p coin into the bottom of your vase, before filling with water and adding your flowers, reports the Mirror.

They recommend: "Leave the coin sitting at the base of the container while your flowers are in there and your blooms should stay standing to attention for longer."

The flower sellers also recommended cutting the stems of your flowers at an angle before putting them in a vase, as this gives the stems more surface area to take in the water.

One woman gave the hack a go for herself - and was very impressed with the results.

She said: "After getting a bunch of beautiful pink tulips from M&S, I was disappointed to see they had drooped when I arrived home.

"I popped them in the vase, only to see them wilt and bend over the sides, looking very sorry for themselves.

"So, I quickly took them out of the vase and popped a 2p coin in the bottom, before adding more water.

"I trimmed the stems on a diagonal as instructed and put the flowers back into the vase.

"Initially, it didn't seem to do anything, but after a little while, I noticed my flowers were standing proud - and some of them had even opened.
