Luiz Suarez confirms transfer plans amid Aston Villa interest

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker and former Liverpool ace Luis Suarez.

Villa boss Steven Gerrard once named Suarez as "probably" the best player he’s played alongside, and reports claim he has made contact with his former team-mate over a possible move to Villa Park.

Gerrard managed to convince Philippe Coutinho to swap Barcelona for B6, and Suarez is reportedly the next superstar on his hit-list.

Suarez has entered the final months of his current Atletico contract and is likely to leave Spain this summer.

Speculation around the 35-year-old's future is rife, but he has already claimed he wants to "enjoy" his football in the twilight years of his career and play "without pressure", like in the MLS.

He told compatriot Diego Lugano in an interview with ESPN last autumn. "I value so much the effort I have made to be at the top and leave a good image that, if I return to South American football at 36 or 37, people will demand me as if I were 27 or 30," he said.

"And if I can't perform at that level, I'd rather they didn't say I don't run like I used to or that I don't score the same goals.

"In order not to leave that image I prefer to continue enjoying myself somewhere else, where my physical condition will give me as much as it will give me.

"That I can continue to enjoy football without that pressure that you feel in South America, which is more than in the United States, Asia or wherever you want to enjoy at 37 years old."

His comments might fit well with the constant speculation that has linked him with a move to America, particularly Inter Miami. Though, the club part-owned by David Beckham has been sanctioned for breaking roster and budget guidelines.
