Luis Suarez's interview after winning La Liga with Atletico will always be very satisfying

Luis Suarez bid farewell to Atletico Madrid this weekend after two fantastic seasons at the club.

Atletico offered Suarez a place to rest his head after the Uruguayan legend was unceremoniously shown the door by Barcelona.

After Suarez had established himself as one of Barcelona’s greatest ever players, he was told – by phone call no less – that he was no longer wanted by the club and shipped off to Atletico for a meagre £6.5 million.

Suarez clearly then had a point to prove as, in the colours of his new side, he went on a goal scoring crusade to show to his former employers just how wrong they had been.

As Barca floundered, Suarez thrived, going on to net a crucial 21 goals over the course of the 2020/21 La Liga season.

Those goals proved to be the difference maker as Atletico secured the title on the final day thanks to a goal from, you guessed it, Suarez.

Unsurprisingly, Suarez was the centre of attention during the celebrations with every media outlet present desperate to get some face time with the striker.

When Suarez did step up to a microphone, what followed was an incredibly emotional and defiant interview as he reminded Barcelona of what they had lost.

“I’m just delighted the way Atletico have appreciated me. They’ve given me the chance to keep showing that I can perform on this stage.”
