Luis Diaz 'given everyone a lift' at Liverpool, claims Graeme Souness

Liverpool's January signing Luis Diaz has been praised following his start to life at Anfield.

Diaz has scored just once in his eight appearances since joining the Reds but has looked consistently dangerous and equipped Jurgen Klopp with another tool for his attacking trident.

The Anfield side beat the likes of West Ham and Tottenham to the Colombian's signature and £49million man has showed a promising start to his career in England.

His performance in Liverpool's 1-0 over West Ham had former Liverpool player turned Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness signing the 25-year-old's praises.

'He'll have given everyone a lift,' Souness said on Sky Sports.

'He's a player that if you're a supporter he gets you on the edge of your seat. He's direct, he's quick, he's aggressive.

'He does that thing which crowds love; he loses the ball, sprints back and puts a tackle in to win it back. He goes past people for fun.

'He's quick, he's direct. There's a lot to like about him and this system will suit him perfectly. 

'He's just another absolute threat that Liverpool have. Defenders don't like to play against people who can go past you with either pace or drop of the shoulder and it looks like he's got both.

'Super dangerous. A real asset to Liverpool.' 

The Reds have won every game since Diaz joined the club and are in with a chance of the quadruple having won the Carabao Cup last weekend.

Souness also praised Diaz's teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold after the full-back notched his 16th assist of the season. 

'The reason Liverpool are top goal scorers is they’ve got him [Alexander-Arnold] in the team,' Souness said on Sky Sports.  

'Great delivery, he passes the ball like very few people can, even at this high level.
