Luis Diaz admits first Liverpool impression is 'not like everybody thinks'

Luis Diaz has opened up on his first conversation with Jurgen Klopp before his move to Liverpool. The Reds signed Diaz from Porto in a £49million deal in the closing stages of the January transfer window.

So far the 25-year-old has one goal to his name in a Liverpool shirt, and he has shown himself to be a solid signing for the Reds since his arrival. Ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Brighton in the Premier League, Diaz has revealed what Klopp said to him before he agreed to move to Anfield.

“Yes, I had the opportunity before to talk a little bit with the manager,” Diaz told BT Sport. “He gave me his opinion about how I was as a player and as a person.

“It wasn’t a lot, because there wasn’t much time to talk to each other, so there was always that little by contact, but he always insisted that I should come here.”

Diaz also spoke about his enjoyment of playing and training alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. The Colombia international says the Reds duo do “spectacular things”, as he aims to improve on his understanding with his relatively new team-mates.
