LOI sides await European draws this afternoon

Four League of Ireland sides will learn their fate in the opening rounds of European club competitions this afternoon.

Shamrock Rovers are in the first round of Champions League qualifying as they look to secure group stage football in a UEFA tournament again this year.

Victory in this round would secure a Conference League play-off at worst.

The Hoops are seeded for the draw which takes place at 1pm.

Their potential opponents are KI Klaksvik (Faroe Islands), BK Hacken (Sweden), Ballkani (Kosovo), Struga (North Macedonia) or a side from the preliminary round of qualifying.

A two-legged tie will be played on 11/12 July and 18/19 July.

Dundalk, St Patrick's Athletic and Derry City await their Europa Conference first round draws.

The Lilywhites are the only side seeded.

KA Akureyri (Iceland), Vikingur (Faroe Islands), SC Gjilani (Kosovo), KF Vllaznia (Albania) and Bruno’s Magpies (Gibraltar) are their potential opponents.

Pat's will be looking to reach the second round like last season and have six potential draws today.

F91 Diddeleng (Luxembourg), FC Shkupi 1927 (North Macedonia), B36 Torshavn (Faroe Islands), Gzira United FC (Malta), Europa FC (Gibraltar) and FC Santa Coloma (Andorra) make up their corresponding pot.

Derry could face a potential rematch with last year’s opponents Riga FC.

The Latvian outfit saw off the Candystripes over two legs in 2022.

There’s also a potential local clash against Crusaders in Belfast.

KF Shkendija (North Macedonia), FC Levadia Tallinn (Estonia) and HB Torshavn (Faroe Islands) make up the rest of the sides they could face in what is a very similar pot to last year's draw.

The two-legged first qualifying round ties will take place on 13 and 20 July.

The Conference League draw takes place at 2pm.
