Liverpool are not expected to sign any more players this summer but Jurgen Klopp has nevertheless been urged to rival Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona for a £60m deal.
The Reds – who won two trophies last season, reached the Champions League final and finished one point behind Premier League champions Manchester City – have signed Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsey this summer.
Reports have suggested that Liverpool have now concluded their transfer business for this summer and are already making plans for next year when they could try to bring England star Jude Bellingham to Anfield.
But former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes Klopp should enter the race for Brazilian winger Raphinha, who has been strongly linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona.
Raphinha looks set to leave Leeds United this summer and is said to favour a move to Barcelona, although Arsenal have already made a bid for the 25-year-old and Chelsea are considering following suit.
‘My message to Liverpool is, “Go on, get in there and get him, and future proof for the prospect of Mohamed Salah leaving in a year,’ Collymore told the Daily Mirror.
‘If Jurgen Klopp can show the boy how to play with more tactical discipline, the Reds will have one hell of a potential threat down the left or right with a promise of goals if he stays high up the pitch rather than drifting.
‘I look at Chelsea and think they are all right for that kind of player, they have good players left and right.
‘People will say that if you can hone his talent and skills, he can give you the same ‘Wow!’ factor , or at least a similar one, to Eden Hazard, even though they’re different players. But I just don’t see him as an automatic pick there.
