Liverpool set to confirm Fulham transfer agreement

Fabio Carvalho’s switch from Championship winners Fulham to Liverpool is set to be announced by the Reds within the next few days, according to Football Insider.

The 19-year-old has long been admired by Jurgen Klopp’s side and a deal was almost done on transfer deadline day back in January to take the teen sensation to Anfield.

However, the Merseyside outfit ran out of time to complete a deal and Carvalho ended up seeing out the Championship campaign with the Cottagers – one in which he finished with 10 goals and eight assists in 36 outings.

Some time before the conclusion of the season though, a deal was agreed between the two clubs without the need to go to a tribunal this summer – a prolonged situation which arose when Harvey Elliott made the same move – for Carvalho though Liverpool agreed to pay an initial £5 million fee.

Whilst the Portugal youth international remained tight-lipped over his future following Fulham’s promotion back to the top flight last month, vice-chairman Tony Khan confirmed Carvalho’s imminent exit – one that is set to be officially announced by Liverpool in the coming week.

The Verdict

Carvalho’s move to Anfield is perhaps the worst-kept secret in football by now and it’s only a matter of time until it is officially announced.

Whilst Fulham would have loved to have kept Carvalho at the club, it appears his mind was made up a number of months ago to move on, with contracts turned down very early in the season.

The kind of clubs that have been linked to his services have been real head-turning ones, but he is heading to a destination that will give young players a chance – just look at Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Trent Alexander-Arnold in recent years.
